About
Background
My life in some ways has been a journey of experiencing opposites. I grew up as a hippy kid in the middle of the bush yet have spent large chunks of time living in Tokyo and making work about constructed landscapes. This shift in environment has also meant that at different times I have also changed the language I use and the culture I live in. These experiences have shaped who I am, and have greatly influenced my work, but they are not always on the surface. One of the experiences that I found truely transformative, was seeing and understanding modernity from a Japanese as well as European socio-cultural perspective.
Professional Practice
Whilst I have exhibited in Australia and Japan, participated in arts projects internationally and am represented by Block Projects Gallery in Melbourne, there is much more that I feel I could have and would like to do professionally. In particular, in addition to promoting my work I would like to promote some of the ideas that I have on art, what it attempts to do, and what I feel will define it in the 21st century. This website and the Blog that is part of it is a large part of this intention to expand what I do professionally.
